 Architects-Urban Planners
2011/9/26

The International Peace and Cooperation Center of Jerusalem (IPCC, founded in 1998) invites applicants for two positions in architecture and urban planning and design. IPCC is an independent Palestinian NGO with the following interests: studies in the Jerusalem urban fabric, including urban planning and land use; development of visions and policies to be placed on the public agenda that support political, social, and economic transforming processes; building capacities and empowerment among civil society groups that move Palestinians way from conflict and toward peace and a participatory democracy. (www.ipcc-jerusalem.org).

Currently IPCC is founding an Architectural/Urban Planning Studio that will focus on development projects in East Jerusalem and its surroundings. IPCC seeks two architect/planners who will form the core of the studio team. They will be assisted by experienced project assistants and, importantly, will work with and coordinate consultants, outside experts and visiting team members.  The studio will also contain a training component for international and local interns.

One position requires a minimum of a BA in architecture and two years experience in related planning and design activities.

A second position requires a BA in Architecture or Engineering and MA in Urban Planning or Design and requires several years experience in a planning related area.

Both positions require:

  • Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic skills. Hebrew would be an asset.
  • Strong creative and analytical skills
  • Persuasive presentation skills
  • Effective interpersonal and team skills
  • Computer competence, including AutoCad, GIS, and 3D software packages
  • Familiarity with Jerusalem zoning requirements and permitting processes will be advantageous
  • Applicants should have compiled a work portfolio

Interested parties should apply to jobs@ipcc-jerusalem.org. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted. IPCC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
